
In Balochistan, human rights activist Dr. Mahrang Baloch has been nominated for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of her long standing resistance against enforced disappearances and her tireless struggle for Human Rights. According to Kiya Baloch, a Baloch journalist based in Norway, the nomination acknowledges her relentless efforts in combating human rights abuses and her unwavering commitment to the cause.
The Nobel Institute has received 338 nominations for this year’s Peace Prize, including 244 individuals and 94 organizations. The final winner will be announced in October in Oslo, Norway.
Dr. Mahrang Baloch has previously been honored with several international accolades. The BBC included her in its list of the world’s 100 most influential women, and Time magazine recognized her as one of the “100 New Emerging Leaders.” However, while traveling to New York to attend a Time magazine event, she was detained by Pakistani authorities at Karachi Airport.
Her activism against human rights violations in Balochistan has garnered global attention, and her nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize is being hailed as a significant milestone in the struggle for justice in the region.
