A protest rally organized by the Baloch National Movement (BNM) UK chapter took place at Trafalgar Square in London. Hundreds of participants joined the event, including BNM members, as well as individuals from the Sindhi and Baloch communities, with many women and children in attendance.
The protest is focused on condemning the crackdown by Pakistani forces on protesters in Gwadar, Mastung, and Nushki during the Baloch Raji Muchi organized by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (Baloch National Gathering). This crackdown resulted in the deaths of three participants, numerous injuries, and widespread suffering. Additionally, the protest aims to highlight issues such as the enforced disappearances of BYC workers and the ongoing road blockades and Siege of Gwadar.
During the demonstration, participants demanded an end to the Gwadar siege and justice for victims of state terrorism. They carried placards and banners denouncing the Pakistani forces’ abuses and expressing support for Baloch Raji Machi.
The protesters also called on the international community to take action against the ongoing human rights violations in Balochistan.
Addressing the protesters, the rally organizers condemned the Pakistani forces’ intolerable atrocities against peaceful and innocent people in Gwadar, Mastung, and Nushke. They also urged that the siege of Gwadar be lifted immediately to prevent a potential humanitarian crisis. He also emphasized that the siege of Gwadar must be ended immediately to avert a looming humanitarian disaster.
Hassan Dost Baloch, central junior joint secretary of BNM, addressed the protest and condemned the ongoing crackdown and siege of Gwadar by Pakistani forces in Gwadar, including Gwadar. Requesting them to take notice of the humanitarian atrocities in Balochistan and hold Pakistan accountable, calling the blocking of the internet and roads as the illusion of the state and said that the state cannot hide its atrocities with such measures.
Manzoor Baloch, president of the BNM UK chapter, addressed the demonstration by lauding the leadership and resilience of Baloch women in their fight for national rights. He highlighted the significance of Baloch mothers and sisters courageously standing up for Balochistan, working in unison and following the example set by their brothers. Baloch’s political awareness and determination, he noted, serve as a guiding light for oppressed nations.
Female activist Gul Raisani addressed the protestors, asserting that their assembly is a demonstration of solidarity with the victims of Raji Muchi and those affected by state violence. She emphasized that the Baloch nation will steadfastly resist both the national struggle and exploitative projects like CPEC. Raisani criticized the Gwadar blockade as a deliberate attempt by the state to obstruct the delivery of essential supplies, underscoring that such measures cannot suppress the voices of the people.
Kainat Baloch, addressing the rally participants, hailed the involvement of Baloch women in the Baloch Raji Muchi as a historic milestone. She noted that the current prominence of Baloch women is due to the immense sacrifices of past fighters. By entrusting women with a crucial role in this struggle, Baloch have reaffirmed their commitment to the cause. Kainat Baloch urged that now is not the time for silence but for steadfastly supporting our brothers and persevering in the fight.
