QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) protest camp against enforced disappearances continued for its 6,353rd consecutive day outside the Quetta Press Club, with organizers renewing demands that authorities disclose the identities of bodies recently recovered in Mastung.
People from various walks of life visited the camp during the day, recorded their protest against enforced disappearances and expressed solidarity with the families of missing persons.
Speaking at the camp, VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch said reports that bodies recovered in Mastung the previous day had been buried without their identities being disclosed were “extremely concerning.” He said the lack of identification had left families of missing persons in severe mental distress, with many fearing the bodies could belong to their own missing loved ones.
Nasrullah Baloch noted that bodies of forcibly disappeared persons had previously been recovered from various parts of Balochistan, saying the latest incident had heightened anxiety among affected families.
He said that even if the individuals found in Mastung were killed in an encounter, authorities have a constitutional and legal obligation to immediately disclose their identities and complete the identification process transparently.
VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch demanded that the identities of all bodies recovered from Mastung be disclosed without delay, saying this was necessary to end the distress among families of missing persons and to inform them of the fate of their loved ones.
