KHARAN, BALOCHISTAN: Multiple Points on Quetta Highway Under Baloch Sarmachar Siege as Checkpoints, Vehicle Checks Continue
According to reports, at least four locations along the Kharan-Quetta main highway are under the siege and control of Baloch sarmachars (fighters), with vehicle checkpoints on the sensitive route reportedly continuing for several hours.
According to details, Baloch sarmachars took control of at least four locations along the highway leading to Quetta including Nowroz Kalat and Zomi Kor at around 4 p.m., setting up checkpoints at each site.
Sources said the siege of these areas and the checking of vehicles was still ongoing at the time of reporting.
It is worth noting that this highway is the sole, heavily used route connecting Kharan to both the Taftan Highway and Quetta, and is also used for the routine movement and logistics of Pakistani military and state institutions.
It is further noted that separatist sarmachars had also set up checkpoints at multiple points on the Kharan-Karachi main highway the previous day, maintaining vehicle checks there for several hours as well.
