QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: Baloch Students Organisation (BSO) Chairman Jiand Baloch has been released, according to reports on Tuesday, days after he was forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces from his home in Hudda, Quetta.
Jiand Baloch had reportedly been taken from his residence by CTD personnel, who entered the house at around 11 p.m. on 24 July 2026, harassed the family at gunpoint, and beat the children before taking him away. His family had said at the time that no information about his whereabouts was provided.
The organization (BSO) had previously demanded his immediate and unconditional release, describing him as a student political leader who believes in the democratic political process.
Amnesty International had also raised concern over his disappearance, stating that his case reflected a broader pattern of enforced disappearances targeting Baloch students over their peaceful activism and had called on Pakistani authorities to reveal his fate and whereabouts and ensure his safety.
Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) Chairman Nasrullah Baloch, who had earlier condemned the disappearance as an unconstitutional act and a serious violation of citizens’ basic rights, has yet to issue a fresh statement following the release.
Further details regarding the circumstances of his release, including whether he was presented before a court or the conditions of his custody, have not yet been made public.
