The organizer of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (Karachi), Amina Baloch, strongly condemned the raids and firing by forces, During a press conference on April 19.She stated that around 11:30 last night, Karachi Rangers and police raided the house of a member of the committee in the Malir area of Jalal Morad Sharafi Goth in collaboration with agencies, cordoning off the entire area. Fortunately, our members were not present at home, but their absence led to violence against their brothers and elderly men and women in the house. Not only was his wife beaten and bloodied, but the children were also traumatized, lifted from their sleep and subjected to violence. His brother was pistol-whipped, subjecting him to severe violence. Forces not only subjected women to violence but also pushed them around. Blind firing instilled fear among the people, which is an extremely alarming act.
Members of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (Karachi) have been threatened and intimidated several times before, and I myself receive threatening calls many times, but Rangers and agencies have crossed the limit. By doing so, state institutions are revealing their true face because neither will we be intimidated nor will we sit silently. As peaceful citizens of this country, we believe in the constitution and the law of the land, we believe in going by the constitution, and we believe in the justice system which is the cornerstone of justice. Therefore, if we mention any abduction-like arrests in front of the press club, we appeal to the courts to take this matter seriously.
Forced disappearances have become so common in Pakistan that not only Baloch but all oppressed nations are victims, but agencies have forgotten that this is a serious crime and we cannot be intimidated by threatening us with abduction arrests.
In the end, Amina Baloch said in her press conference that we say in clear words that if any of our members, including ourselves, commit any crime, an FIR should be filed, but such behavior is intolerable. Violence against women and children weakens society. If any Baloch suffers any kind of harm in Karachi, we will also announce our course of action.
