NOSHKI, BALOCHISTAN: Gunmen established an armed roadblock on the Noshki highway Monday evening, stopping vehicles at gunpoint and conducting snap checks before detaining 17 employees of the Reko Diq mining project in the Mal area of Noshki district.
The identities of the 17 detained workers have not been officially confirmed. Their current whereabouts remain unknown and no rescue operation has been publicly announced at the time of publication.
According to sources familiar with the incident, the gunmen arrived during evening hours and established their checkpoint before civilian and commercial traffic could be diverted or warned. Vehicles were stopped one by one, occupants questioned, and those identified as Reko Diq project employees were separated from other travelers and taken into custody.
The operation appeared targeted and pre-planned rather than opportunistic, suggesting prior knowledge of the workers’ travel route and schedule.
