
KECH, BALOCHISTAN: Two Pakistani security forces personnel were killed when their vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device (IED) in the Jabshan area of Zamuran, district Kech, Balochistan.
The attack occurred in a remote part of Kech district, one of Balochistan’s most volatile regions bordering Iran and Afghanistan, which has long been a hotbed of militant activity targeting state installations and security personnel.
According to initial reports, the IED was planted on a route used by security forces in the Jabshan area of Zamuran. The device was detonated as the military vehicle passed through, killing two personnel on the spot.
Following the attack, security forces swiftly cordoned off the area and, Bomb disposal and investigation teams were also dispatched to the site to collect evidence and assess the nature of the explosive used.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) had not issued an official statement regarding the incident at the time of publication. The identities of the deceased personnel have not yet been officially confirmed.
No armed group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far, however, such attacks in Kech district have previously been claimed by Baloch separatist groups, including the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and Baloch Liberation Front (BLF), who have carried out similar IED strikes against security forces in the region in recent months.
