PARIS: Baloch National Movement (BNM) Chairman Dr. Naseem Baloch has strongly condemned the Pakistani Coast Guard’s firing on labourers at an oil depot in the Kuntani area of Gwadar, calling it another act of state brutality against unarmed Baloch civilians.
In an official statement, Dr. Naseem Baloch said the labourers who were killed and injured had no agenda other than earning a living for their families. He said the incident was yet another example of a consistent pattern of state violence in which unarmed Baloch civilians are met with bullets, enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings and collective punishment.
Dr. Naseem Baloch alleged that for decades Pakistan has used military force, intimidation and state repression to crush the Baloch nation, silence dissenting voices and maintain what he described as an occupation over Balochistan. He said the targets of this violence range from students, activists, journalists and intellectuals to innocent civilians, and that the aim is not only to suppress resistance but to erase the identity, history and political aspirations of the Baloch people.
The BNM chairman called on the international community, including human rights organizations, journalists and democratic governments, to pay urgent attention to the worsening situation in Balochistan and hold Pakistan accountable for its actions.
