Quetta: The Baloch Students Action Committee (BSAC) has strongly condemned the enforced disappearance of BSO Pajjar’s Vice Chairman, Babul Malik Baloch, from the hostel of Polytechnic College Quetta, describing it as a deeply alarming and unacceptable act.

In its statement, BSAC said the worsening situation in Balochistan has become increasingly concerning, with the education system facing severe disruption while reports of enforced disappearances and harassment of students from educational institutions continue unabated.

The committee stated that the disappearance of Baloch students and political activists from academic institutions is an anti-education practice that raises serious concerns for society. It emphasized that no conscious society can accept a situation where educational institutions become so unsafe that Baloch parents are forced to think repeatedly before sending their children for education.

BSAC criticized the government for claiming to promote literacy and educational growth while, at the same time, students increasingly face insecurity within their own institutions. The organization also expressed concern over the harassment of politically active students and leaders of student organizations, arguing that such actions undermine social progress, political awareness, and educational development.

The Organization highlighted that student organizations have historically played a leading role in promoting literacy, awareness and social reform in Balochistan, citing its own Baloch Literacy Campaign as an example of such efforts. However, it said politically active students and organizations are being systematically suppressed and denied the space to carry out educational and intellectual activities.

BSAC termed the disappearance of Babul Malik from an educational institution’s hostel as part of this troubling pattern and strongly condemned the incident. It further stated that such actions appear to be an attempt to deprive Baloch students of education, social awareness and constructive political engagement.

The organization called on the authorities to immediately release Babul Malik Baloch, review current policies, address the challenges faced by students in Balochistan, and ensure that Baloch students can pursue their education in a peaceful and secure environment.
