VBMP’s protest camp, which began over 16 years ago, is believed to be one of the longest-running demonstrations of its kind in Pakistan’s history.

QUETTA: The protest camp organised by the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) outside the Quetta Press Club continued, marking its 6,149th consecutive day of demonstration against enforced disappearances in Balochistan.

The sit-in camp, a long-running symbol of the families’ unrelenting demand for justice, was led by VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch, with Secretary General Hauran Baloch also present at the site.

Throughout the day, individuals from various walks of life visited the protest camp and expressed solidarity with the families of missing persons, underscoring continued public concern over the issue.

Addressing participants at the camp, Nasrullah Baloch stated that enforced disappearances constitute a blatant violation of Pakistan’s constitution and a grave breach of fundamental human rights.

“Disappearing any citizen outside the bounds of law is contrary to the principles of justice,” he said, adding that state institutions bear the responsibility to provide constitutional protection to every citizen without exception.

Nasrullah Baloch described the prolonged suffering of affected families as a deepening humanitarian crisis, noting that women, children, and elderly relatives have spent years searching desperately for their loved ones without receiving justice.
