QUETTA: The Baloch Students Organization (BSO) Shal Zone has expressed concern over what it described as mismanagement, excessive security measures and rising corruption in the examination system under the Balochistan Board.
In a statement issued by its spokesperson, the organisation said the ongoing examination process has turned into a combination of administrative failures and unnecessary strictness, causing mental stress and injustice to students.
The spokesperson claimed that security arrangements at examination centres were being used in an excessive and “humiliating” manner, arguing that students were being subjected to unnecessary searches, repeated stopping and inappropriate checking by external and unrelated personnel deployed outside centres.
The statement questioned the authority and role of such personnel in the examination system, alleging that their presence reflects administrative inefficiency and an attempt to shift responsibility onto students rather than addressing underlying issues.
It further said that while students face strict monitoring in the name of security, issues such as corruption, favouritism and lack of transparency continue within the board’s internal system. The organisation claimed that merit-based decision-making has been replaced by arbitrary practices, with no effective accountability mechanism in place.
The spokesperson said the situation is damaging the academic environment and negatively affecting students’ futures, adding that genuine reforms should focus on improving governance and eliminating corruption instead of imposing “showpiece” security measures.
The organisation warned that if what it called unnecessary interference in the name of security, alleged student mistreatment, and corruption within the board are not addressed, it may be compelled to launch a protest movement. It held the Balochistan Board and the provincial government responsible for any escalation.
