Amnesty International has expressed serious concern over the continued detention of Dr. Mahrang Baloch, marking one year since her arrest during a peaceful protest in Quetta.

According to Amnesty International, Dr. Mahrang Baloch was arrested on March 22, 2025, alongside Beebow Baloch while participating in a peaceful demonstration. The organization highlighted the emotional toll on her family, noting that her sister recalled rushing to Quetta after receiving multiple missed calls, only to find a home filled with fear and uncertainty.

The statement further noted that the family spent their first Eid visiting her in prison, and now, a year later, they are observing yet another Eid without her presence.

Amnesty International also raised alarm over her deteriorating health condition, warning that it could potentially affect her mobility if not addressed.

Calling for urgent action, the organization demanded the immediate release of Dr. Mahrang Baloch and all other arbitrarily detained Baloch activists, emphasizing that their continued detention raises serious human rights concerns.
