QUETTA: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed that it has executed seven Pakistani military personnel who were previously taken into custody.
In a statement issued to the media, BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said that, following a decision by the group’s Senior Command Council, the death sentences of seven members of the “occupying Pakistani army” were carried out. The group said the personnel had been captured during “Operation Herof II.”
According to the statement, the detained soldiers belonged to regular units of the Pakistani army and were sentenced to death by “Baloch National Court.” The BLA said that the sentences were based on accusations of war crimes, involvement in enforced disappearances, and actions against civilian populations.
The group claimed that on February 14 it had given a one-week deadline for a prisoner exchange involving Baloch detainees, later extending the deadline by an additional 14 days on what it described as humanitarian grounds.
The statement further said that during this period, Pakistani authorities did not take serious steps toward a prisoner exchange and instead used the time to carry out military operations in certain areas, including the use of helicopter gunships, drones, and reinforcements.
The BLA said its leadership concluded that the extension had been exploited and that, as a result, the death sentences were implemented. The group placed responsibility for the outcome on the Pakistani Army.
