KARACHI: A case of enforced disappearance of a Baloch student from Panjgur has surfaced, prompting concern from a human rights organization.

PAANK, the human rights wing of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), stated that Zakir Noor, a student belonging to Panjgur, Balochistan, was taken into custody by personnel of state forces in Karachi on December 30, 2025.

According to the organization, Zakir Noor was detained without a warrant, legal justification, or due process. Since then, his whereabouts remain unknown.

In its statement, PAANK said that his transfer to an undisclosed location could pose serious risks to his life and safety. The organization described the incident as a violation of fundamental human rights under international law, particularly protection against enforced disappearance and arbitrary detention.

PAANK further claimed that there has been a recent increase in cases of enforced disappearances involving students and youth from Balochistan, especially in major cities such as Karachi.

No official statement from authorities has been issued regarding the allegations.
