GWADAR: Pakistani security forces have set fire to shelters belonging to laborers associated with oil-related livelihoods in the Kantani area of Jiwani tehsil, Gwadar, Balochistan.
Following the incident, affected workers said their only means of survival had been reduced to ashes, leaving dozens of families facing severe economic hardship. Many laborers stated that their hopes of earning a livelihood were destroyed overnight.
According to local sources, thousands of people from across the Makran region reside in the coastal area of Kantani in search of work. These laborers are engaged in the transportation and handling of oil arriving from the sea and related forms of employment. The workers were living in temporary shelters, depots, and makeshift dwellings along the coastline, which were reportedly burned during the operation.
The affected families said that their valuable belongings were also destroyed in the fire.
The reasons behind the operation have not yet been officially disclosed. However, videos and statements shared by affected workers and families have circulated widely on social media, raising serious questions about the role of security forces in the incident.
Public circles and social activists have demanded a transparent investigation into the incident and called for immediate relief and alternative livelihood arrangements for the affected laborers.
