QUETTA: The sit-in protest camp of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) against enforced disappearances in Balochistan entered its 6,044th day on Sunday. The camp continues under the leadership of VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch outside the Quetta Press Club.

People from various walks of life visited the protest camp and expressed solidarity with the families of the disappeared. Visitors also voiced concern over the recovery of mutilated bodies of forcibly disappeared Baloch individuals and called for the safe return of all disappeared persons.

Speaking to the media, VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch said that enforced disappearances are a serious violation of human rights and national laws. He stated that since 2009, VBMP has been peacefully and constitutionally struggling against enforced disappearances and extrajudicial actions.

“Our long and peaceful struggle aims to see the country free from enforced disappearances,” he said.

He added that the organization’s demands are constitutional, calling for an end to enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings of missing persons, and urged authorities to take immediate and practical steps to ensure the recovery of all disappeared individuals.

He reiterated that the families of missing persons continue to suffer and that justice must be ensured in accordance with the law.
