NASEERABAD: Folk singer Wahab Bugti has demanded justice after being assaulted, sharing photos and a video message on social media regarding the incident.
Wahab Bugti, a renowned folk singer from Balochistan who gained international fame through Coke Studio, has accused Bilal Umrani, son of Pakistan Peoples Party leader and former provincial minister Mir Sadiq Umrani, of subjecting him to violence.
The incident came to light when Wahab Bugti posted statements, photos, and videos on social media showing marks of violence on his body.
According to Wahab Bugti, Bilal Umrani invited him to his home in Naseerabad, where, after his arrival, he was mistreated and physically assaulted without any clear reason.
Wahab Bugti hails from district Naseerabad in Balochistan and has been associated with Balochi folk music for several years. He rose to nationwide and international prominence in 2022 through Coke Studio Season 14 song “Kana Yari,” performed alongside fellow Baloch artists Kaifi Khalil and Eva B.
Wahab Bugti said that the accused belongs to an influential family and is the son of a former provincial minister; however, he has demanded action over the assault and the provision of immediate justice.
It has also been reported that a reconciliation has taken place between Wahab Bugti and Bilal Umrani, though further details from the police have not yet been released.
