PARIS: Baloch National Movement (BNM) Chairman Dr. Naseem Baloch has strongly criticized Pakistan’s military media wing following a recent press conference by the Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), saying it reflects “panic and moral collapse rather than authority.”
In a statement shared on social media platform X, Dr. Naseem Baloch said that publicly branding political activists, human rights defenders and journalists as “terrorists” is a reckless propaganda campaign aimed at criminalizing dissent and silencing voices that expose serious human rights violations in Balochistan.
Dr. Naseem Baloch said the inclusion of peaceful political figures and rights activists including himself, PAANK media coordinator Jamal Baloch, human rights defender and Nobel Peace Prize nominee Mahrang Baloch, lawyer and activist Iman Mazari and journalist Kiyya Baloch in what he termed a “fabricated list” is a calculated attempt to delegitimize peaceful political struggle and create justification for further persecution.
“These actions are not about security,” he said, adding that they are designed to intimidate, target and suppress voices advocating truth, justice and freedom.
He further criticized the Pakistani military for attempting to use a so-called confession video of Professor Qazi Usman Baloch, stating that any statements recorded while an individual is forcibly disappeared and under custody are made under duress and hold no legal or moral credibility. He said opposing enforced disappearance and supporting the rights of detainees is a moral and legal obligation under international law, not a crime.
Dr. Naseem Baloch said the BNM openly opposes what he described as Pakistan’s occupation of Balochistan and the ongoing genocide against the Baloch people, adding that the movement stands for freedom, dignity, and self-determination through principled and peaceful struggle. Labeling this stance as terrorism, he said, only exposes the state’s inability to confront its own actions.
He also revealed that he, Jamal Baloch, and journalist Kiyya Baloch are living in forced exile due to systematic persecution by Pakistani state institutions, noting that exile has not guaranteed safety. He referenced the killings of Baloch activist Karima Baloch and journalist Sajid Hussain abroad, saying they were assassinated by Pakistani agents.
Calling the DG ISPR’s campaign an effort to conceal documented crimes in Balochistan — including enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, torture, and collective punishment — Dr. Naseem Baloch said propaganda cannot erase reality.
He urged the United Nations and global powers to break their silence, calling for immediate international intervention and an independent fact-finding mission to stop what he described as genocide in Balochistan, ensure accountability for crimes against humanity, protect human rights defenders, and safeguard the Baloch people’s right to freedom.
