Quetta: The spokesperson for the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), Major Gwahram Baloch, stated that on the morning of 24 November, fighters carried out an attack on the camp of a construction company near a petrol pump in the Proar area of Mashkay. According to the spokesperson, the company was building a road under the supervision of the military to facilitate troop movement. BLF fighters set four vehicles and all machinery in the camp on fire and seized one vehicle.
He said that after the attack on the construction company, a convoy of security forces consisting of six vehicles, nine motorcycles and personnel on foot pursued the fighters. According to Major Gwaharam, the fighters used guerrilla tactics and ambushed the pursuing troops in the Charchari area, launching a coordinated attack with heavy and modern weapons. He claimed that eight Army and Frontier Corps personnel were killed on the spot while several others were seriously injured.
He added that in another operation, fighters set up a checkpoint on the highway in the Washbood area of Panjgur and searched vehicles, while another BLF unit attacked the Washbood Customs check post. The spokesperson said that personnel at the post were taken into custody, from whom official weapons, military equipment and three government vehicles were seized. The Customs personnel were later released “on humanitarian grounds,” he claimed.
He stated that the Balochistan Liberation Front claims responsibility for the attack on the construction company and security forces in Mashkay in which 8 Army and FC personnel were claimed to be killed and several injured as well as for the checkpoint operation and seizure of weapons and vehicles in Panjgur. He added that operations would continue in a “systematic manner” until the goal of an independent Balochistan is achieved.
