BNM Denounces Pakistan’s Strikes on Afghanistan, Calls for Regional Awareness Among Pashtuns

PARIS: Chairman of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), Dr. Naseem Baloch, urged Pashtuns living under Pakistani rule to take Islamabad’s “military adventurism” seriously, warning that Pakistan’s recent attacks on Afghanistan are part of a broader strategy that threatens peace and stability across the region.

In a statement on Thursday, Dr. Naseem strongly condemned what he described as Pakistan’s assaults on neighbouring Afghanistan, calling them violations of international law and an affront to Afghanistan’s sovereignty and dignity. He reaffirmed that the BNM stands in full solidarity with the Afghan people.

Dr. Naseem said Islamabad had wrongly assumed that the establishment of the Taliban government in Kabul would resolve the Durand Line dispute and align Afghanistan’s foreign policy with Pakistan’s interests. “The Afghan government refused to make Pakistan a partner in its sovereign affairs,” he said, arguing that Pakistan’s actions are driven by a desire to extend its influence through military aggression and manufactured conflicts.

“BNM believes these attacks are a continuation of Pakistan’s longstanding policy of interfering in Afghanistan’s internal matters, aimed at keeping the country unstable, weakened and ultimately within Pakistan’s sphere of control,” he added. For decades, he said, Pakistan has played a central role in perpetuating war in Afghanistan, acting both as a proxy and a facilitator for foreign intervention.

Dr. Naseem described the assault as the beginning of a new and dangerous phase in Pakistan’s regional policy. He linked Islamabad’s actions to the continued instability in Pashtun regions, the targeting of Pashtun populations, and the overarching dominance of the Pakistani military.

He warned that if Pashtun parliamentary parties continue to support Pakistan under the guise of “national security,” the consequences will be felt throughout the region.

Reaffirming BNM’s solidarity with Afghanistan, Dr. Naseem emphasized that the peoples of Balochistan and Afghanistan share deep historical, cultural, and geographical ties, and should not allow external powers to divide them.
