Chairman Imran Baloch Regains Freedom After Six Months in State Custody

Chairman Imran Baloch was released from Gadani Central Jail after six months in detention. His release came following a court order after the completion of the period under the Maintenance of Public Order (3 MPO).

Imran Baloch had been detained for the past six months under the directives of the Balochistan Home Department through the 3 MPO law. This law has been repeatedly used in the past against political activists and dissenting voices, drawing consistent criticism from human rights organizations.

According to sources, no criminal case was registered against Imran Baloch; Rather, he was arrested for raising his voice against enforced disappearances and human rights violations. Experts say the repeated use of laws like the 3 MPO is equivalent to restricting political activities.

Following his release, his supporters expressed joy, saying that Imran Baloch’s release should be considered a victory of public resistance and political struggle.
