QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) said its protest camp against enforced disappearances outside the Quetta Press Club continued for its 6,411th day.
According to the organization, people from various walks of life visited the camp and expressed solidarity with the families of missing persons.
VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch said enforced disappearances violate the basic principles of the constitution and the rule of law. He said the government has a constitutional and legal responsibility to protect citizens’ lives, property and fundamental rights and to take practical steps to end the practice.
He demanded the immediate recovery of all missing persons. He said anyone facing an allegation should be produced before a court and given a transparent legal process. Holding any citizen without meeting legal requirements or keeping their family uninformed about their status and whereabouts, is unacceptable, he said.
Nasrullah Baloch also called on the government to take effective steps on the issue, ensure justice and information for affected families and investigate cases of enforced disappearance to identify those responsible.
He said a permanent end to enforced disappearances, the recovery of missing persons and justice for affected families are the fundamental responsibility of the state and the government.
