QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: Pakistani security forces were targeted in armed and explosive attacks in three districts of Balochistan on Monday, with local reports of casualties. The military has not yet issued an official statement or confirmed any figures.
In Noshki district, armed men attacked Pakistani forces soldiers on foot and military vehicles in the Ahmadwal area, according to initial reports. Casualties were reported.
In Kharan, a security forces vehicle was struck by an explosion, causing reported losses. Local sources said landmines planted in the area were hampering the movement of the forces. They added that bomb blasts and an armed attack the previous day had also left security personnel casualties.
Later on Monday, a military convoy was attacked in Mastung district on the Quetta-Karachi highway, near Madina Hotel. Casualties were reported there as well.
No military official has commented on any of the incidents and no group has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Attacks on security forces and government property are reported almost daily in Balochistan, where Baloch separatist militant groups are active and have repeatedly targeted the forces in the past.
