QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks, ambushes and blockades across multiple districts of Balochistan between September 12 and September 17, 2026, according to a statement issued by the group’s spokesperson, Major Gwahram Baloch.
The group claimed that on September 17, its fighters attacked members of a “death squad” it says operate under Pakistani Army patronage in Jhal Magsi, resulting in two deaths and several injuries among the group’s targets, who it said fled the scene.
On September 15, the BLF claimed to have carried out a coordinated operation on Sariyab Road in Quetta city, alleging it blockaded the main highway, conducted checks in the area, and damaged government buildings and bank infrastructure.
The same day, the group said its members briefly detained police personnel at Dalbandin Cross, alleging the officers were extorting money from local residents. The BLF said it confiscated a pistol from the officers before releasing them with a warning, and separately warned police personnel against “harassment of the public and extortion”.
In a separate claim for September 15, the group said it attacked a security post used by Pakistani forces in the Zamuran area of Kech district with heavy and automatic weapons, alleging casualties and material losses on the army’s side.
The group also claimed responsibility for the killing of a man identified as Ehsan, son of Huzoor Bakhsh, on September 14 in the Gresha area, alleging he was affiliated with a militia leader and involved in facilitating military operations, extortion and other activity in the area.
For September 13, the BLF made several claims: an attack on death squad members in the Kodask area of Naal, resulting in two wounded and weapons seized, the destruction of a Ufone communications tower in the same area, the seizure of two police checkpoints between Bela and Uthal, with personnel briefly detained and then released and the abduction of a police inspector, identified as Ghafar Khilji, whom the group said was an operative of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The BLF said Khilji remains in its custody and is being interrogated a claim that raises serious concerns under international humanitarian law regarding the treatment of captured individuals.
The group additionally claimed a three-hour blockade and vehicle-checking operation in the Nodiz area of Turbat on September 13, which it said was intended to assert control in the area and monitor military movement.
For September 12, the BLF said its fighters exchanged fire with Death squad militia in the Kolwah area of Awaran, claiming the group fled and abandoned motorcycles at the scene.
The BLF statement, issued by spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch, claimed responsibility for all the incidents described, including the reported killings, material damage, and the abduction of the police inspector.
