QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN; The Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances has formally registered the cases of forcibly disappeared persons Shahid Ahmed Kurd and Noor Muhammad Kurd and issued notices to all concerned institutions.
In its order, the Commission directed the relevant institutions to immediately provide information regarding both forcibly disappeared individuals. The Commission also stated in its notices that necessary measures be taken to ensure the safe and immediate recovery of Shahid Ahmed Kurd and Noor Muhammad Kurd.
Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) had submitted the cases of Shahid Ahmed Kurd and Noor Muhammad Kurd to the Commission and the provincial government and had appealed for effective action to ensure the immediate and safe recovery of both forcibly disappeared individuals.
It is also worth noting that Shahid Ahmed Kurd, son of Muhammad Afzal, and Noor Muhammad Kurd, son of Hazoor Bakhsh, were taken into custody on the night of April 8 this year, at approximately 3:00 a.m., from Kali Khali, Western Bypass, Quetta, by personnel of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and other agencies, who reportedly told the families that the men would be released after interrogation. However, despite several months having passed, they have neither been presented before any court nor has any information about them been provided to their families.
