London, UK: Sarang Sindhi, Coordinator, and Saeed Sindhi, Deputy Coordinator, of Voice for Missing Persons of Sindh–Europe (VMPS–Europe) have sent a congratulatory letter to the newly appointed Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Andy Burnham, extending best wishes for his leadership and expressing confidence in the United Kingdom’s continued commitment to democracy, justice, and the protection of human rights worldwide.

In the letter, VMPS–Europe also expressed deep concern over the deteriorating human rights situation in Pakistan, particularly in Sindh, as well as in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Seraiki Waseeb, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. The organization stated that enforced disappearances, arbitrary arrests, illegal detentions, torture, and politically motivated prosecutions continue to affect political activists, human rights defenders, and civilians.

According to Sarang Sindhi and Saeed Sindhi of VMPS–Europe, more than 100 Sindhi political activists remain victims of enforced disappearance, over 50 have reportedly been killed, more than 200 are imprisoned, and over 500 individuals are living in hiding due to alleged politically motivated cases.

VMPS–Europe has respectfully urged the Government of the United Kingdom to raise these concerns with the Government of Pakistan and to press for the immediate release of all forcibly disappeared persons, an end to enforced disappearances, and the protection of fundamental human rights in Sindh and throughout Pakistan, including Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Seraiki Waseeb, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.
