QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: Baloch Students Organisation (BSO) Chairman Jiand Baloch Forcibly Disappeared by Pakistani forces from his home in Hudda and moved to an unknown location.
According to Jiand Baloch’s wife, CTD personnel entered their home at around 11 p.m., harassed the family at gunpoint, beat the children, and took her husband away with them. She said no information about his whereabouts has been received since.
The BSO statement described Jiand Baloch as a leader of a student political organization who believes in the democratic political process. According to the spokesperson, this marks the third time he has been forcibly disappeared, having previously been subjected to enforced disappearance on two separate occasions.
BSO has demanded that Jiand Baloch be immediately brought before the public and released unconditionally.
Jiand Baloch’s wife called on the relevant authorities to present her husband before a court in accordance with the law if he faces any legal charges, and to immediately inform his family of his whereabouts and well-being if he is in government custody.
Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) Chairman Nasrullah Baloch said that the enforced disappearance of Jiand Baloch is an unconstitutional act and a serious violation of citizens’ basic rights, condemning it in the strongest terms. He demanded that senior authorities ensure Jiand Baloch’s safe recovery immediately and that if he faces any charges, he should be presented before a court in accordance with the law.
It is worth noting that Jiand Baloch was first forcibly disappeared in November 2018, when he was serving as senior joint secretary of BSO and studying at Bahauddin Zakariya University in Multan. Pakistani intelligence personnel raided his family’s home in Quetta at the time, also taking his younger brother, Hasnain Baloch, and their father, Qayoom Baloch, into custody. Hasnain Baloch was subsequently charged under what human rights organizations and the public described as fake and fabricated charges, sparking widespread concern at the time. He remains imprisoned in Karachi Jail to this day.
