QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks on Pakistani security forces in Mastung, Khuzdar, and Kharan over the past few days, saying five military personnel were killed and several others wounded, according to a statement from spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch.
BLF said its fighters attacked a checkpost of Pakistani forces on July 8 in the Dasht Umar Dhor area of Mastung, using heavy and automatic weapons. The group claimed two soldiers were killed on the spot and several wounded and said its fighters also destroyed surveillance cameras installed at the site.
The group further claimed that on July 6, its fighters ambushed a three-vehicle military convoy in the Sangri area of Wadh, Khuzdar, along the Quetta–Karachi highway, killing three soldiers and wounding several others, while damaging the vehicles.
Separately, BLF said that on the same day, its fighters carried out an intelligence-based operation in the Hurmagay area between Kharan and Washuk, setting up a blockade on the Kharan–Yakmuch CPEC link road.
The group claimed to have arrested a member of a “state-sponsored death squad,” saying he was extorting money from the public and passenger vehicles on the highway. BLF said it confiscated his weapons and moved him to a camp for interrogation.
BLF also claimed that on July 5, its fighters set up a temporary checkpost on the same CPEC link road in the Gwaash area of Kharan, maintaining control of the highway for three hours while searching vehicles. The group said its fighters used the opportunity to address passengers about BLF’s objectives and warn them to keep their distance from the military.
BLF said it was claiming responsibility for all the above operations and vowed to continue attacks against Pakistani forces “with greater intensity” until what it called the “complete liberation” of Balochistan.
