QUETTA, Balochistan: The protest camp set up by the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) outside Quetta Press Club against enforced disappearances entered its 6,212th consecutive day on Thursday.

Individuals from various walks of life visited the protest camp during the day, expressing solidarity with the families of missing persons and demanding an end to enforced disappearances along with the safe recovery of those missing.

Among those present at the camp were the family members of Shahid Ahmed Kurd and Noor Muhammad Kurd, both victims of enforced disappearance. Appealing for the safe return of their loved ones, the families said that despite several months having passed, they have received no information about their relatives’ whereabouts, leaving the families in a state of severe mental distress and anxiety.

Speaking on the occasion, VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch demanded the immediate recovery of Shahid Ahmed Kurd, Noor Muhammad Kurd, and all other missing persons, stating that enforced disappearances constitute a violation of human rights and the Constitution. He said VBMP’s peaceful, democratic, and constitutional struggle would continue until enforced disappearances are ended and all missing persons are recovered.

He further called on the government, relevant state institutions, and bodies responsible for the provision of justice to recognize the suffering of the families of missing persons and ensure the recovery of their loved ones. He added that if any individual faces allegations, they should be presented before a court of law in accordance with due legal process.
