The Sindhu Desh Revolutionary Army (SRA) has claimed responsibility for the killing of Dr. Safdar Hanif Rajput, describing him as a “settler and facilitator.”
In a statement issued to the media, SRA spokesperson Sodho Sindhi said that the Pakistani state has historically pursued a deliberate policy of relocating Punjabi populations into Sindh citing the designation of Karachi as a capital, the One Unit scheme, and the construction of major irrigation projects including Ghulam Mohammad Barrage, Sukkur Barrage, and Jamrao Canal as instruments of that policy.
The spokesperson claimed that as a result, large parts of lower Sindh from Badin to Ghotki have seen significant demographic shifts, with Sindhi land and resources increasingly under outside control.
Sodho Sindhi further stated that the SRA views the removal of non-indigenous settlers as a necessary step toward preserving Sindhi demographic identity, drawing comparisons to anti-colonial struggles globally.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to continue armed struggle until what it describes as the complete national liberation of “Sindhu Desh.”
