QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: Armed groups struck across three separate districts of Balochistan in rapid succession, torching a police checkpoint in Jhal Magsi, detonating an IED near a police patrol vehicle in Naseerabad and seizing control of a key section of the CPEC M-8 highway in Khuzdar.
Armed individuals stormed and took over a police checkpost in Lashar Abad, Gandawah, in Jhal Magsi district, before setting the facility on fire. The checkpost was burned to the ground.
No casualties have been officially confirmed in the Jhal Magsi attack. Police and authorities have not issued any official statement regarding the incident.
An improvised explosive device exploded near a police patrolling vehicle close to DC Chowk in Dera Murad Jamali town, Naseerabad district, wounding six people including three police personnel.
The remaining three wounded are believed to be civilians in the vicinity at the time of the blast. The condition of the wounded has not been officially confirmed.
In the most strategically significant development, Baloch fighters established checkpoints on the CPEC M-8 highway in the Wangu area of Khuzdar, bringing the critical trade and infrastructure corridor to a halt.
According to locals, snap checking of vehicles continued for more than three hours, with the route remaining completely under the control of the armed group throughout that period.
The M-8 motorway forms a critical section of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), connecting Gwadar port to the rest of Pakistan. Any sustained disruption to this route carries significant economic and diplomatic implications beyond Balochistan’s borders.
No group has claimed responsibility for these all attacks yet. Pakistani highway authorities and the federal government have not issued any statement at the time of publication.
