KARACHI, SINDH: The Sindhodesh Revolutionary Army (SRA) has claimed responsibility for the attack on a Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police vehicle that took place late last night near Jamal Bridge on Karachi’s Super Highway, in which one officer was killed and another critically injured.

The claim was made in an official statement issued by SRA spokesperson Sodho Sindhi.

In its statement, the group said that CTD operates under the supervision of the military and intelligence agencies, and has been conducting operations against what it describes as a national movement in Sindh, including raids on activists’ homes, arrests and extrajudicial killings.

The SRA also referenced the case of two individuals identified as Allah Dino (AD) Rahimoon and Nawab Rahimoon who the group were abducted by CTD from Civil Hospital Karachi on May 14, 2022, where they had come to seek medical treatment for an injured relative. According to the statement, both individuals were subsequently killed three days later on May 18, 2022, in what the group described as a staged encounter in Mari Pur, Karachi.

The group said Sunday’s attack was carried out on the anniversary of those deaths, describing it as a retaliatory action.

The SRA warned that attacks against CTD and security forces would intensify, and reaffirmed its commitment to continue its armed campaign until what it calls the complete independence of Sindhodesh.
