Quetta: The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for multiple attacks targeting Pakistani security forces and an intelligence operative in Awaran and Turbat.
In a statement issued to the media, BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch said that on December 12 at around 12:00 PM, the group’s fighters targeted the Army Brigade Headquarters and main military camp in Awaran city. According to the statement, several mortar shells were fired, which reportedly landed inside the headquarters and the main camp. The spokesperson said that, in response, Pakistani forces fired a large number of mortar shells toward nearby residential areas, causing panic among civilians.
The statement further claimed that an FC Public School, located directly behind the military camp and described by the BLF as operating under military patronage, was also hit by a mortar shell. The BLF said that the institution functions as a semi-military training center rather than a purely educational facility, claiming it aims to distance Baloch children from their history, culture, and resistance literature. The group urged Baloch parents to keep their children away from what it described as militarized institutions, citing safety concerns during military operations.
The spokesperson said that in another operation later the same day, at around 7:00 PM, BLF fighters carried out a close-range attack on a Pakistani military camp in the Kunera area of Awaran. The attack reportedly began with rocket launchers, one of which struck a security post, killing two personnel on the spot. The statement added that the camp was later targeted with light machine guns (LMGs) and sniper fire.
Additionally, the BLF claimed that based on intelligence information, its fighters carried out an operation in Turbat’s Absar area at around 1:00 PM on Sunday, killing Rahmdil, son of Fazal, near the Absar Research Farm. The group said that the individual was a key Military Intelligence (MI) operative, previously associated with other intelligence collaborators in the region, and directly linked to MI operations in Turbat.
According to the BLF statement, the slain individual was involved in activities against the Baloch national movement, including the enforced disappearance of Baloch youth and the promotion of what the group described as social evils under military patronage.
The Balochistan Liberation Front said it accepts responsibility for the killing of two Pakistani security personnel in Awaran and the alleged MI operative in Turbat, reiterating its claim that it will continue targeting what it described as occupying forces and their facilitators across Balochistan.
