Kech: Speaking at a press conference held at the Turbat Press Club against enforced disappearances, the sister of missing youth Yahya Abdul Wahid appealed to the higher authorities to take immediate notice of his case. She alleged that Yahya, son of Abdul Wahid, was taken into custody by security forces and intelligence personnel on the night of September 8, 2025, from Baloch Colony, Hub Chowki and was subsequently forcibly disappeared. Despite the passage of three months, no information about his whereabouts has been provided.
The affected sister said that the practice of enforced disappearances continues in Balochistan and her family has also become a victim of this painful ordeal. According to her, Yahya Abdul Wahid, a resident of Nazar Abad, Tehsil Tump, District Kech, was the sole breadwinner of the family. After the death of their father, four sisters raised him and he supported the household through hard labor.
She demanded that if state institutions have any evidence or allegations against Yahya, he should be produced before a court in accordance with the law. She said the family has been suffering from severe mental anguish and uncertainty for the past three months, which has become unbearable for them.
According to the affected family, they submitted applications to the Deputy Commissioner of Kech on four occasions for Yahya’s recovery, but no satisfactory response was received at any level. They said they were compelled to approach the media so their voice could reach the authorities.
During the press conference, the family urged government institutions to take practical steps for the immediate recovery of Yahya Abdul Wahid and ensure his safe return to his family.
At the end of the press conference, they thanked journalists and said that the media is the only platform that raises the voice of the oppressed and plays a vital role in highlighting suppressed issues.
