Multiple Attacks in Kalat Leave Dozen-Plus Pakistani Soldiers Dead, BLA Claims Responsibility

QUETTA: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) spokesperson, Jiyand Baloch, said in a statement to the media that fighters targeted Pakistani security forces at different locations in Kalat, Sheikhri, Morgand, Makai, and Khisar, over a three-day period, killing 17 personnel, including commandos.

The attacks, according to the statement, also led the fighters to seize weapons from the dead and destroy supply lines.

Detailing the incidents, the spokesperson said the first attack occurred on Thursday when BLA fighters ambushed foot soldiers of the Pakistani army in the Makai area as they were delivering supplies to a post. Another BLA unit reportedly struck an army post and supply vehicles at Garap, inflicting casualties and material losses, he added.

He said that at daybreak on Friday, BLA fighters attacked army foot soldiers at Sheikhri and Morgand. Vehicles that arrived at the scene were also ambushed, the statement added, causing further casualties.

The spokesperson said fighters also targeted soldiers advancing from the Shah Mardan camp. He said the BLA seized weapons from those killed and that prolonged clashes followed, lasting several hours.

The BLA further claimed that an ambush at Khisar, between Juhan and Shah Mardan, targeted three army vehicles and resulted in the deaths of six SSG and SOG commandos, with several others wounded. The statement said the fighters also captured equipment, including night-vision and thermal scopes.

Across the reported attacks at various locations over two days, the statement said more than 17 Pakistani personnel, including six commandos, were killed, and several were wounded. It added that clashes that began early Friday at Morgand continued into the evening, with government forces receiving support from gunship helicopters while BLA fighters engaged at multiple locations.

The statement concluded by saying the BLA accepts responsibility for the attacks and reiterated its pledge to continue operations until what it described as “the liberation of the Baloch nation.”
