Quetta: The peaceful protest camp of the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), one of the world’s longest-running demonstrations against enforced disappearances, continued for the 5,970th consecutive day on Wednesday in front of the Quetta Press Club under the leadership of the organization’s Executive Committee member, Niaz Muhammad.
VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch stated that Saqib Buzdar, a young man who had gone missing after being subjected to enforced disappearance from Jinnah Road, Quetta, on August 27, has been recovered.
He said that Saqib Buzdar’s case was raised by the organization before the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances and the provincial government, after which the commission initiated legal proceedings on October 9.
Nasrullah Baloch termed Saqib Buzdar’s recovery a positive development but noted that hundreds of families of missing Baloch persons are still waiting for the return of their loved ones.
He urged the government and relevant authorities to ensure the recovery of all missing persons and to put an end to the practice of enforced disappearances.
The VBMP chairman reaffirmed that the organization will continue to raise the voice of victims’ families peacefully and within the legal framework to ensure that every citizen is guaranteed constitutional and human rights.
