QUETTA: A central leader of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), Dr. Sabiha Baloch, has condemned the unlawful detention of Dr. Mahrang Baloch and other BYC members, calling it “a clear act of political revenge.”
She stated on Thursday that for over six months, Dr. Mahrang Baloch and her companions have been held without judicial proceedings or the right to a fair and transparent hearing.
“Their only crime,” she said, “is raising a peaceful voice against enforced disappearances and state violence in Balochistan.”
Dr. Sabiha emphasized that the arbitrary arrests not only violate the basic principles of human justice but also breach international commitments, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights both signed by Pakistan.
Expressing grave concern, she added that holding court proceedings inside prison strips the process of transparency, impartiality and dignity turning the judicial system into a tool of intimidation and control.
According to the statement, Dr. Mahrang Baloch and her colleagues embody the courage and conscience of a nation demanding truth and accountability. Their continued imprisonment, Dr. Sabiha said, symbolizes not just legal injustice but also a profound moral failure by the state.
She concluded by urging the international community to speak out against Pakistan’s ongoing repression of peaceful political activists in Balochistan and to demand the immediate release of Dr. Mahrang Baloch and all other detained Baloch activists
