Inside Zehri’s Blackout: Families Ordered to Report to Army Camp Amid Heightened Tensions

KHUZDAR: A large-scale military operation by Pakistani security forces in Zehri Tehsil of Khuzdar district has entered its third week, leaving local residents trapped amid fear and uncertainty.

According to local reports, all communication networks, including internet and mobile services, have been suspended for several days, while entry and exit routes to Zehri remain sealed off. The complete blockade has effectively isolated the region from the rest of Balochistan.

Residents and local sources informed that Pakistani security forces have issued orders for inhabitants of Noorgama and neighboring areas to report to a military camp set up inside the Zehri Hospital. Families have reportedly been instructed to appear with all members, including young men, or face “serious consequences.”

Eyewitnesses say the directive has triggered widespread panic, with many fearing detention or disappearance. “People are terrified. They don’t know what will happen if they go, or if they don’t,” said one local resident, speaking on condition of anonymity due to safety concerns.

Several homes have already been raided in recent days and multiple individuals have been taken into custody. Local sources claim that some of those detained, including women, have been transferred to undisclosed locations, raising concerns over possible cases of enforced disappearance.
