Quetta: In two separate firing incidents on Monday, a man and a woman lost their lives.
According to local sources, the first incident took place in Panjgur, where unidentified armed men stormed a house late last night, killing Shakir, son of Rasheed, on the spot. The victim was a local resident. The assailants managed to escape, and the motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
In another act of violence in Goth Lunda of Jhal Magsi district, a man identified as Ijaz Magsi shot and killed his wife, Rehana Magsi, in what has been described as an “honor killing.” Police have taken the woman’s body into custody and shifted it to a hospital, while efforts to arrest the suspect are underway.
Reports indicate that incidents of honor killings in Balochistan have been on the rise. According to the Aurat Foundation, 212 cases of honor-related killings were recorded in the province between 2019 and 2024, with little effective action taken by law enforcement agencies.
