Baloch Students Organization (BSO) Azad, through its spokesperson, condemned the enforced disappearance of Professor Usman Qazi Baloch, calling it part of a systematic campaign by the Pakistani state to target educated Baloch individuals.
The spokesperson said that the abduction of Professor Qazi, the extraction of coerced statements and linking him to Baloch pro-independence armed organizations are all part of policies designed to intimidate and suppress all segments of Baloch society.
Professor Qazi is not the first intellectual to face such persecution. Earlier, individuals like Saba Dashtiari, Professor Razaq Baloch , Professor Zahid Askani, Master Baitullah and several other educators and scholars have been targeted by the military. The spokesperson explained that the state has now adopted a new tactic: forcibly disappearing educated members of society, extracting statements under duress and using these statements for media propaganda. According to the spokesperson, the state has effectively become a propaganda machinery.
The spokesperson emphasized that the Baloch nation continues its struggle for freedom. Every Baloch, regardless of age, desires liberation from the oppressive Pakistani state, which maintains dominance through brutality and coercion. Ordinary citizens face enforced disappearances, killings and widespread human rights violations, while the world, especially Western powers, remains silent. He criticized the international community, particularly the United States, for pursuing trade deals with Pakistan despite its violations of human rights in Balochistan.
BSO Azad called on the world to hold Pakistan accountable for its actions in Balochistan and to recognize the Baloch national movement as a legitimate struggle for freedom, peace and liberation from oppression.
The spokesperson highlighted that Professor Usman Qazi’s case is not isolated. It reflects a broader strategy to target Baloch intellectuals and students to suppress education and awareness within the community. Hundreds of students and young scholars, including Director of Knowledge and Literature Jangiz Baloch, MPhil scholar Ghani Baloch and Zakaria Baloch, have recently been forcibly disappeared due to their commitment to learning.
He urged the Baloch people to intensify their struggle against the occupying forces, warning that such severe oppression will continue as long as Pakistan maintains its occupation of Balochistan.
