The Baloch have lost their freedom, not their dignity. We were once free and we must be free again. This was said by speakers at the organizational meeting of the Baloch National Movement (BNM) in Kech Gwadar Hanken on the occasion of Renewal of Commitment Day on August 11.
BNM Kech Gwadar Hanken organized two programs where speeches were given by Secretary of Information and Culture Qazi Dad Muhammad Rehan , Central Finance Secretary Nasir Baloch , President of Hanken Baba G.R. and General Secretary of Hanken Bahar Baloch.
The speakers said that the meaning of freedom is hidden in our slavery and today’s conditions. Because of slavery, Baloch are forced to live like criminals on their own land. We fear standing at our own door, as foreign occupying forces may arrest us. Even our homes are not safe, as people are being forcibly disappeared. For us, freedom means liberation from Pakistan’s slavery.
They added that August 11 is observed every year as Renewal of Commitment Day on the suggestion of Shaheed Ghulam Muhammad Baloch. On this day, we renew our commitment to the freedom movement, because we have lost freedom, we have not lost dignity or national spirit. Some people celebrate this day, but that creates the false impression that we are already free. Based on its historical and political importance, we must follow Shaheed Ghulam Muhammad Baloch and observe it as Renewal of Commitment Day, not as a celebration.
The speakers further said that the current struggle is the fifth phase of the Baloch war of independence, where the youth of the nation are sacrificing their lives. We must face every hardship with courage. Pakistan, an uncivilized enemy, is committing all kinds of atrocities against us. Now even women are being forcibly disappeared along with men. The Baloch have continued their struggle with consistency and today the whole Baloch nation stands in support of the freedom movement.
