The sit-in by the mother of 17-year-old Ehsan Shah, who was killed by Pakistani forces’ firing in Mastung, entered its ninth day today in front of the Quetta Press Club.
She is protesting against the failure to arrest the FC personnel involved in the incident.
On June 3 this year, FC personnel opened fire on 17-year-old Ehsan Shah in Quetta’s Ganja Dori area, killing him and injuring his companion, Shoaib.
According to the family, an FC officer in Mastung killed Ehsan Shah for refusing to act as an informant in the area. An FIR was lodged against the forces’ personnel; however, despite several months having passed, no arrests have been made.
Ehsan Shah’s mother stated that during today’s sit-in, the local Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) arrived, tore down their posters, and threatened to end the protest.
According to her, the DSP warned that if the sit-in continued, she would be arrested.
It is worth noting that during the filing of the FIR in the Ehsan Shah murder case, the family faced immense pressure, with the police initially refusing to register the case under the forces’ pressure. However, under a court order, unidentified personnel were named in the FIR.
Ehsan Shah’s mother has appealed to Baloch political organizations and human rights bodies to become her voice against this injustice and to join the ongoing sit-in in Quetta to support her in the pursuit of justice.
