Kech / Bolan / Barkhan: A series of violent incidents across Balochistan has left multiple casualties, injuries and reports of enforced disappearances, underscoring the region’s ongoing instability.
In the Zamuran area of Kech, Pakistani security forces came under heavy armed attack by unidentified assailants. According to local sources, several personnel were reportedly killed or injured during the assaults. The attacks included an ambush and a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED) targeting a military convoy. In the aftermath, military helicopters were seen conducting aerial surveillance, and reinforcements, including ambulances and military vehicles, were deployed to the area.
Eyewitnesses reported that supply vehicles were set ablaze, and a mobile communication tower in the Dashtuk area was also torched. While no group has claimed responsibility, past incidents of this nature have often been attributed to Baloch separatist factions.
Elsewhere in Balochistan, other violent incidents were reported. In Dhadar, Bolan, two individuals were injured in a blast near the irrigation office. The wounded, identified as Lal Muhammad and Mir Hassan, were taken to Civil Hospital Dhadar. The nature of the explosion remains under investigation.
In the town of Mach, a man named Naveed was shot and killed by unknown gunmen near Darbar Hotel. The motive behind the attack is currently unclear.
Meanwhile, multiple cases of enforced disappearances were reported in Kech and Barkhan. On Sunday night, Pakistani security forces allegedly detained Adnan, son of Ghafoor, from Dasht Darcheko in Kech and transferred him to an undisclosed location.
In Barkhan’s Rakhni area, Abdul Rehman Sailani was reportedly taken into custody by security forces on July 15 and has since been missing.
Additionally, two young men from Sarnkan, Mehran son of Sadiq and Nizam son of Abdul Karim, were also detained by Pakistani security personnel and moved to an unknown location. Their families say they have received no information about their condition or whereabouts.
