The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for a series of intense clashes with Pakistani security forces in the mountainous region near Nushki, resulting in the reported deaths of seven military personnel and five BLA fighters.
In a statement issued to the media, BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch stated that the Pakistani military launched a large-scale operation on July 19 in the Nushki mountain range, reportedly using helicopters and drones to support ground forces. According to the BLA, its fighters resisted the advance and launched multiple counterattacks.
One of the fiercest engagements occurred in the Sheshar area, where close-quarters combat between BLA fighters and government troops lasted for two days. The group claimed that seven commandos were killed and several others injured, despite air support being provided to the Pakistani Forces during the battle.
The BLA confirmed the loss of four of its fighters in this engagement. The deceased include:
- Sufyan Kurd alias Chairman Shashan, from Dasht, Bolan. A political science student formerly active in student politics, he reportedly joined the BLA a year ago and rose quickly to the rank of commander due to his leadership and combat skills.
- Rasheed Buzdar alias Meerel, from Allahabad, Dera Ghazi Khan. A member of the BLA’s Majeed Brigade since 2023, he was wounded in the battle and, according to the statement, chose to take his own life when ammunition ran out to avoid capture.
- Nabeel Badini alias Barag, from Killi Jamalabad, Nushki. A relatively new recruit, he reportedly continued fighting despite being wounded in helicopter shelling.
- Khalid Farooqi alias Zubair, from Station Killi, Taftan, who had also completed a combat training course and was active in the Nushki frontlines.
Additionally, the BLA confirmed that Junaid Baloch alias King, who had been injured in an earlier attack on a military camp in Surab on July 10, succumbed to his injuries. The BLA claimed responsibility for that operation as well, stating that its fighters had briefly taken control of two sections of the camp.
Junaid, a native of Zorabad, Nushki, reportedly joined the BLA in 2024 and took part in operations across Kalat, Nushki and Kharan. The group credited him for his courage during the Surab offensive.
The BLA’s spokesperson paid tribute to the deceased fighters, calling them symbols of resistance. The group vowed to continue its operations and stated that its members remain committed to their cause despite the technological and military superiority of the Pakistani state.
