Two Youths Forcibly Disappeared from Quetta and Kech, One Recovered After 47 Days in Mastung

Quetta: Reports of enforced disappearances continue to emerge from Balochistan as two young men have allegedly been abducted by Pakistani security forces from Quetta and Kech, while another youth has returned home safely after being missing for 47 days from Mastung.

According to local sources, 19-year-old student Ashfaq, son of Mushtaq, was taken into custody by Pakistani forces on the morning of July 11 from A-One City Phase 2 in Quetta. A resident of Mashkay in Awaran, Ashfaq is described as a regular student. Eyewitnesses claim he was detained by personnel of the Frontier Corps (FC) and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD). Since his arrest, there has been no information about his whereabouts.

In a separate incident, security forces reportedly raided Arz Mohammad Bazaar in Hoshab, Kech, around 9 a.m., and detained a young man identified as Awaz Hassan, son of Hassan. Sources state that forces gathered all local residents at a single location, confiscated their mobile phones, and subsequently took Awaz Hassan with them. He too remains missing.

Meanwhile, positive news emerged from Mastung where Khalil Ahmed Shahwani, who had also been forcibly disappeared, returned home safely after 47 days in custody. His family has confirmed his release and return.

The continued reports of enforced disappearances have sparked concern among human rights activists and civil society, who have repeatedly called for transparency, due process, and the safe return of all missing persons.
