Quetta: The Baloch Students Organization (BSO) has announced that its 22nd Central Council Session will be held in October 2025, as decided in the recent meeting of its fourth Central Committee, chaired by Chairman Balach Qadir in Quetta. The session was conducted by Central Secretary General Samand Baloch and attended by members of the central cabinet and committee.
The meeting began with a two-minute silence in memory of Baloch martyrs and included in-depth discussions on several agendas, including national and international political developments, the educational crisis in Balochistan, organizational performance, and future strategies.
Chairman Balach Qadir, in his opening address, emphasized that the meeting was taking place during a time of rapid global political, educational, and social transformations, which are having a direct impact on sensitive regions like Balochistan. He stressed that student organizations must rise to the occasion with intellectual clarity and political consciousness.
“Our mission is not limited to protest slogans,” he said, “but is grounded in critically understanding our society and playing a constructive role in its transformation.”
Qadir highlighted the dual challenges faced by Baloch youth state repression and intellectual crisis. He pointed out that educational institutions are deteriorating, and freedom of expression is shrinking. The solution, he noted, lies in prioritizing intellectual development and ideological clarity.
He further stated that the upcoming Council Session in October will not only mark a leadership transition, but also serve as a platform for theoretical dialogue, organizational reflection, and collective learning.
Educational Crisis and Political Challenges
During the session, participants agreed that democratic institutions and student organizations are under constant pressure. Baloch students face both deprivation of basic educational facilities and restrictions on their political and intellectual expression.
They also discussed the international context, criticizing the selective approach of global powers and human rights organizations that prioritize interests over principles. The committee stressed that Baloch students must analyze their issues within the frameworks of imperial politics, colonial legacies, and global dynamics through a scientific and research-based approach.
The educational crisis in Balochistan was a central topic. Participants noted that education in the province is not just a state responsibility but a fundamental pillar of societal development. Challenges like the dilapidated state of schools, lack of qualified faculty, inappropriate curricula, and militarization of campuses were highlighted.
The organization urged all its zones to initiate reading sessions, educational dialogues, lecture series, and training workshops aimed at fostering critical awareness among students. BSO expressed deep concern over rising university fees, unfair distribution of scholarships, hostel crises, and surveillance on campuses, promising to continue advocacy on these issues.
Organizational Review and Preparations
The committee also reviewed the performance of various BSO zones, praised the active ones, and decided to reorganize inactive units. The importance of collective decision-making, discipline, and intellectual harmony was reaffirmed, along with the implementation of annual training programs, reading lists, and study circles for all members.
Finally, it was decided that the 22nd Central Council Session will be held under the theme “Baloch Zalbul o Bayad-e-Mubarak Qazi” in October. This session will not only elect new leadership but also act as a center for intellectual renewal and ideological debate.
Preparatory committees have been formed, and all zones have been instructed to complete membership drives and ensure ideological and organizational readiness for the significant upcoming session.
