Quetta: Former Secretary General of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), Rahim Advocate Baloch, paid heartfelt tribute to Nawab Nauroz Khan and his companions on the occasion of their 64th martyrdom anniversary, recognizing their sacrifices as a foundational part of the ongoing Baloch national struggle.
In a statement issued Yesterday, Rahim Advocate said that the sacrifices made in the 1950s by Nawab Nauroz Khan Zehri, Mir Bhutte Khan Zehri, Mir Bhawal Khan Zehri, Mir Wali Muhammad Zehri, Mir Sabzal Khan Zehri, Mir Masti Khan Musiani and Mir Ghulam Rasool Nechari were not in vain. “Their legacy lives on in the continuing Baloch national freedom movement, which has become more organized and resilient over time, adapting to evolving circumstances and challenges,” he said.
He further recalled the betrayal by the Pakistani state, noting that Nawab Nauroz Khan was lured down from the mountains under the false promise of safety, sworn upon the Quran. However, the state reneged on its word, arresting him and his companions, an act that Rahim described as a lasting lesson for the Baloch nation.
“This act of deception revealed the true face of the occupying state and forever changed the way the Baloch view its promises. No freedom-seeking Baloch political party, group, or armed organization today places any trust in the pledges of the occupying Pakistani state,” he stated.
Rahim Advocate paid special homage to the martyrs who were executed on this day in 1961 in Sukkur and Hyderabad jails, calling them the pride of the Baloch nation. He also honored the late Mir Rasool Bakhsh Talpur and Mir Ali Ahmed Talpur for ensuring the proper burial of the martyrs in Kalat, defying Ayub Khan’s military dictatorship and displaying true Baloch dignity and courage.
