Quetta: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for a major attack on a Pakistani military camp in the Gidar area of Surab, Balochistan, stating that its fighters successfully overran parts of the base, resulting in the deaths of at least 18 Pakistani soldiers. One BLA fighter, identified as Haroon Baloch alias “Dosten,” was martyred in the assault.
In a statement released to the media, BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said that the attack began late last night around 11:00 PM when BLA fighters launched a two-pronged assault on the main military camp in Gidar. The firefight lasted over an hour, during which the BLA claimed full control over two sections of the camp. The attempt to capture a third section resulted in the martyrdom of Haroon Baloch.
According to the statement, 11 soldiers were killed during the direct engagement at the camp, and multiple others fled the scene, abandoning their posts. The BLA reportedly seized weapons and ammunition from the site. A surveillance quadcopter used by the Pakistani army was also shot down during the encounter.
Ambushes on Reinforcements
The BLA claims it ambushed a military reinforcement convoy of five vehicles approaching the area, destroying two and forcing the rest to retreat. Later, another 12-vehicle convoy was targeted with a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED), destroying one vehicle and damaging another. This attack reportedly resulted in seven more fatalities and at least 11 injuries among Pakistani forces.
Attacks in Panjgoor, Buleda, and Mach
The BLA further stated that its fighters conducted three additional operations in other regions:
- Panjgoor (Surap area): A military convoy on the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route was targeted with an IED. One soldier was killed, and three were wounded. The vehicle sustained heavy damage.
- Buleda: Two vehicles supplying military forces were seized along with their contents.
- Mach: A civilian alleged to be a military informant, Abdul Ghaffar (son of Haji Abdul Jabbar Rajput), was seriously injured in a grenade attack. The BLA accused him of working under the guise of a shopkeeper to aid the army.
Fallen Fighter: Haroon Baloch “Dosten”
The BLA paid tribute to their fallen fighter Haroon Baloch, son of Ali Bakhsh Balgani, hailing from Kishingi, Nushki. He joined the BLA in 2022, initially participating in urban guerrilla operations before moving to the mountainous frontlines. Due to his military capabilities, he became part of the elite Fatah Squad and led key operations in Qalat’s Shor Parod, Nushki and Kharan.
The statement noted his close friendship with another fallen fighter, Yasin alias “Raouf,” with whom he shared both hometown roots and ideological commitment. The BLA emphasized that their martyrdom symbolized the continuity of generational resistance.
Ideological Significance
The statement concluded by framing Haroon Baloch’s death as part of a broader legacy of sacrifice in the Baloch national struggle. “His martyrdom strengthens the BLA’s military resolve and serves as an ideological beacon for Baloch youth, inspiring readiness to embrace any sacrifice for freedom. Every drop of a martyr’s blood fuels the movement and signals that the tools of oppression imposed on Baloch soil are ultimately doomed to fail.”
