Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) has issued a statement confirming that Naseeda Baloch has filed a complaint with the organization regarding the enforced disappearance of her brother, Sagheer Ahmed s/o Ghulam Qadir Meerwani Baloch, and her cousin Iqrar s/o Jangiyan.
According to Naseeda, on the night of June 11, both men were forcibly detained by security personnel at the Ormara checkpoint and taken to an undisclosed location while they were returning home from Ormara.
She stated that she reached out to the relevant authorities regarding the illegal arrest and disappearance of her brother and cousin but received no information or cooperation. As a result, the family is suffering from severe mental distress, and their lives have come to a standstill.
Naseeda Baloch revealed that this is not the first time her brother has been abducted. On November 20, 2017, Sagheer Ahmed was previously forcibly disappeared from Karachi by state institutions and was held in custody for a year before being released.
She added that her brother had completed his education at the University of Karachi and went on to obtain a Master’s degree from the University of Sargodha. Despite being well-educated and returning to his native region of Awaran with the intention of serving his community, he was unable to secure employment due to a lack of basic facilities. Consequently, he relocated to Turbat, where he worked honorably at an oil depot alongside his cousin, Iqrar, to earn a living.
VBMP assured Naseeda Baloch that her brother and cousin’s case would be submitted to the Commission on Enforced Disappearances and the provincial government, and that the organization would raise its voice on every platform to ensure their safe return.
Nasrullah Baloch, Chairman of VBMP, appealed to the government and the heads of national institutions to uphold the law and provide justice to the families of Sagheer Ahmed Meerwani and Iqrar. He urged authorities to end the mental torture and suffering being inflicted upon the affected family.
